From September 4th to 8th, the Secondary section was flooded with the spirit of democracy through the elections for Personero and Vice-Personero. The candidates, Rafael Echeverri and Samantha Atencio from 12th grade, along with their respective vice-candidates, Simón Mejia and Jacobo Ordonéz from 11th grade, embarked on their campaigns based on proposals to facilitate the fulfilment of rights and duties.
“To be the voice of the students”
This is how Rafael and Simón described their goal: the creation of a culture of bold communication and expression for and by the students. Symbolising their vision with a megaphone, the candidates shared and received ideas from students throughout the section to amplify their voices, loud and clear. Rafael, who held the position of Vice-Personero during the 2022-2023 school year, aspired to the Personería along with Simón to ensure memorable experiences and contribute to the development of the school’s ideals.
“The most important thing in communication is to listen to what is not said.”
Based on this quote by Peter Drucker, Samantha and Jacobo created a campaign that encapsulates the Corazón Colombo, a multitude seeking a common goal. The candidates armed themselves with attention to detail and a sense of belonging to investigate student needs. Samantha, a current member of the National Honor Society and captain of O’Leary, has dreamt of representing the people of her community and joined Jacobo to promote respect and communication.
On September 7th, the voice of every student was heard in the presentation of proposals. The campaigns, though unique in essence, shared a common theme: fostering camaraderie, healthy competition, and fun. Both candidates proposed the continuation of the Copa Bach, with an essential change: matches between different grade levels to promote integration. Additionally, they proposed implementing Chess and FIFA tournaments during the school day to diversify the daily routine. Support among students from different grades is also reflected in academic support projects, such as Sammy and Jacobo’s CCB IB Data Bank or Rafa and Simón’s Personal Project Buddies.
Rafa and Simón proposed improving food vending machines and personal hygiene vending machines; the reception of this initiative was positive, evident in those who cheered and applauded upon hearing it. Samantha and Jacobo, on the other hand, proposed the implementation of a Senior Mural, so that graduating students can leave their mark. This demonstrated the promise of providing an environment where students can share their creativity with the community. These proposals, among many others, express the deep insight and affection of the candidates towards the school and the entire educational community.
During the election day on September 8th, the CCB community shared the feeling of anticipation and doubt generated by the question: Who will be the Personero for the 2023-2024 school year? At the end of the day, Rafael Echeverri and Simón Mejia were elected with 66.3% of the votes as Personero and Vice-Personero. After a week filled with inspiration, effort, teamwork, and communication, the candidates take with them the unforgettable connection they generated with all the students in the section. The CCB community congratulates Rafael, Simón, Samantha, and Jacobo for their campaigns!

Desde el 4 al 8 de septiembre, la sección de Bachillerato se vio inundada por el espíritu de la democracia con las elecciones de Personero y Vice-Personero. Los candidatos, Rafael Echeverri y Samantha Atencio de grado 12°, junto a sus respectivos vices, Simón Mejia y Jacobo Ordonéz de grado 11°, emprendieron sus campañas fundamentadas en propuestas para facilitar el cumplimiento de derechos y deberes.
“Ser la voz de los estudiantes”
Así describieron Rafael y Simón su objetivo: la creación de una cultura de comunicación y expresión audaz para y por los estudiantes. Simbolizando su visión con un megafóno, los candidatos compartieron y recibieron ideas de estudiantes a través de la sección para amplificar sus voces, alto y claro. Rafael, quien desempeñó el cargo de Vice-Personero en el año lectivo 2022-2023, aspiró a la Personería junto a Simón por su deseo de asegurar experiencias memorables, y contribución al desarrollo de los ideales del colegio.

Basándose en esta cita de Peter Drucker, Samantha y Jacobo crearon una campaña que encapsula el Corazón Colombo, una multitud buscando un objetivo en común. Los candidatos se armaron con atención al detalle y sentido de pertenencia, para investigar las necesidades estudiantiles. Samantha, actual miembro del National Honor Society y capitana de O’Leary, ha soñado con representar a las personas de su comunidad, y se unió a Jacobo para fomentar el respeto y la comunicación.
El 7 de septiembre, se sintieron las voces de cada estudiante en la presentación de propuestas. Las campañas, aunque únicas en esencia, compartieron un eje: fomentar compañerismo, competencia saludable, y diversión. Ambos candidatos propusieron la continuación de la Copa Bach, con un cambio esencial: partidos entre años para promover la integración. Además se propuso implementar torneos de Ajedrez y FIFA durante la jornada escolar, con el fin de diversificar el día a día. El apoyo entre estudiantes de diferentes años se refleja también en proyectos de apoyo académico, como el CCB IB Data Bank de Sammy y Jacobo, o los Personal Project Buddies de Rafa y Simón.
Rafa y Simón propusieron la mejora de las máquinas expendedoras de alimento y las máquinas de higiene personal; la recepción de esta iniciativa fue positiva, evidente en quienes vitorearon y aplaudieron al escucharla. Samantha y Jacobo, por su parte, propusieron la implementación de un Senior Mural, para que los estudiantes de último grado puedan dejar sus marcas. Así se demostró la promesa de proveer un ambiente donde los estudiantes puedan compartir su creatividad con la comunidad. Estas propuestas, entre muchas otras, expresan la profunda percepción y cariño de los candidatos frente al colegio y a toda la comunidad educativa.
Durante la jornada electoral del 8 de septiembre, la comunidad CCB compartió el sentimiento de expectativa y duda generado por la pregunta de: ¿Quién será el Personero para el año lectivo 2023-2024? Al final del día Rafael Echeverri y Simón Mejia fueron elegidos con 66.3% de los votos como Personero y Vice-Personero. Tras una semana llena de inspiración, esfuerzo, trabajo en equipo y comunicación, los candidatos se llevan la conexión inolvidable que generaron con todos los estudiantes de la sección. ¡La comunidad CCB felicita a Rafael, Simón, Samantha y Jacobo por sus campañas!
