This coming Thursday, 8th February, marks the kick-off of one of the highlights of our school year: the “We Are One Games 2024” (Powered by AACBI) organised by the Colegio Colombo Británico. Three days of intense sporting competitions in football, volleyball, and basketball await. Five hundred athletes from 11 IB schools across Colombia will gather on our campus to test their skills and mental strength in a bid to claim victory in Football (boys and girls), Volleyball (boys and girls), and Basketball (boys). Visitors from Armenia, Bogotá, Medellín, Villavicencio, and Cali, who belong to the Andean Association of International Baccalaureate Schools (AACBI), will be joining us.
In the previous two editions, the sporting event was known as the “AACBI Youth Cup.” For 2024, the competition has been rebranded as the “We Are One Games,” or “WAO Games” for short.
“We decided to not only use our mantra We Are One, which inspires unity, but also to put our mascot, our lion, whose name is ‘Leo,’ at the forefront, as an example of the growing fierceness, strength, and passion of our athletes, both on and off the field,” stated Mr. Reeves, Headmaster of CCB, along with the Director of Sport, Vicente Medina, and the Head of Extracurriculars, Diego Bernal.
“The most valuable aspect of this tournament is the bonds that can be formed among the athletes, where it’s not just about competition but also about creating an environment of brotherhood and harmony among all participants,” commented Diego Bernal, Head of Extracurriculars.
Over 200 athletes will represent our school, all of whom have been training hard to show their talent and achieve great results.
“This year, the competition is going to be tougher because teams from different schools are participating, and I know we should never underestimate them,” expressed Miranda Bernhardt, a member of the CCB girls’ football team.
“We’re very united as a team, always excited and understanding each other well when it comes to playing. We’re very dynamic among ourselves so that we can better understand each other,” added Nicolás Kuratomi from CCB’s boys’ basketball team.
We are eagerly waiting for this sports event, which will undoubtedly allow our students to grow and strengthen their skills as athletes. We look forward to the attendance of our CCB Community at the games to cheer on our athletes!

Este próximo jueves, 8 de febrero, daremos el “pitazo inicial” a uno de nuestros mayores eventos del año escolar: los “We Are One Games 2024” (Powered by AACBI) organizados por el Colegio Colombo Británico. Tres días de intensas competencias deportivas de fútbol, voleibol y baloncesto. 500 atletas procedentes de 11 colegios IB de Colombia se reunirán en nuestro campus para poner a prueba sus habilidades y su fortaleza mental en un esfuerzo por proclamarse campeones en Fútbol (masculino y femenino), Voleibol (masculino y femenino), Baloncesto (masculino). Tenemos visitantes de Armenia, Bogotá, Medellín, Villavicencio y Cali y que pertenecen a la Asociación Andina de Colegios del Bachillerato Internacional, AACBI.
En las dos ediciones pasadas el evento deportivo se había conocido bajo el nombre de “AACBI Youth Cup”. Para 2024, se ha cambiado el nombre de la competencia por “We Are One Games”, o “WAO Games” para abreviar.
“Decidimos utilizar no solo nuestro mantra We Are One, que inspira unidad, sino también poner a nuestra mascota, nuestro león, cuyo nombre es “Leo”, en primer plano, como ejemplo de la creciente ferocidad, fuerza y pasión de nuestros atletas, dentro y fuera de la cancha” mencionaron en su circular Mr.Reeves, Rector del CCB junto con el Director de Deportes, Vicente Medina y el Jefe de Extracurriculares, Diego Bernal.
“Lo más valioso de este espacio son los lazos que se puedan generar entre los deportistas, que no solo sea la competencia sino que se genere un espacio de fraternidad y armonía entre todos los participantes”, comentó Diego Bernal, Jefe de Extracurriculares.
Son más de 200 deportistas los que representarán a nuestro colegio, quienes han estado entrenando fuertemente para demostrar su talento y poder obtener grandes resultados.
“Este año los rivales van a estar más fuertes, porque vienen diferentes colegios y sé que nunca nos debemos confiar”, expresó Miranda Bernhardt integrante del equipo de fútbol.
“Somos muy unidos como equipo, siempre nos emociona y nos entendemos muy bien a la hora de jugar. Somos muy dinámicos entre nosotros para entendernos mejor” añadió Nicolás Kuratomi, del equipo de baloncesto.
Estamos esperando con ansias este evento deportivo que sin duda alguna le permitirá a nuestros estudiantes crecer y fortalecer sus habilidades como deportistas. ¡Esperamos contar con la asistencia nuestra Comunidad CCB a los partidos para darle ánimo a nuestros deportistas!
