On September 25th and 26th, we had a visit from Mr. Fernando Durán Marqués, who was sent from Mexico by the IB. The school is currently in the consultation stage to receive authorization for the fourth program in the IB continuum: the Career-related Program (CP), which we hope to offer to our 11th and 12th-grade students starting in 2024.
The CP focuses on providing students with skills such as critical thinking, communication, and intercultural understanding while pursuing vocational studies.
“This new career-related program provides a unique opportunity for students to have a good international academic preparation, but also allows them to focus on a specific area they like and would want to turn it into their future profession,” explained Mr. Durán. He added that students can focus early on the career path they are interested in, which provides them with a faster journey through university.
The purpose of this program is to offer students a significant advantage in terms of career guidance. Mr. Durán also said that “having that university experience starting from school allows students to identify what they want to do in the future and make a more informed decision.”

El 25 y 26 de septiembre recibimos la visita del sr. Fernando Durán Marqués, quien fue enviado desde México por el IB. El Colegio se encuentra en etapa de consultoría para recibir la autorización del cuarto programa del continuo del IB: Programa de Orientación Profesional (POP) o Career-related Program (CP), el cual esperamos poder ofrecer a los estudiantes de grado 11 y 12, a partir del próximo año lectivo.
El POP se enfoca en brindar a los alumnos habilidades como el pensamiento crítico, la comunicación y el compromiso intercultural, mientras cursan estudios de formación profesional, lo que les será útil en su vida futura.
“Este nuevo programa de orientación profesional brinda una oportunidad única a los estudiantes de tener una buena preparación académica de carácter internacional, pero además, les permite enfocarse en un área específica que les guste y que quieran convertir en su futura profesión”, explicó el sr. Durán y agrega que, los estudiantes podrán enfocarse de manera temprana en la carrera por la que tengan interés, lo que les proporciona un recorrido universitario más rápido.
La finalidad de este programa es ofrecer una gran ventaja en temas de orientación vocacional profesional. Fernando Durán añadió que, “tener esa experiencia universitaria desde el colegio permite identificar, qué es lo que quiero hacer en el futuro y tomar una decisión más informal”.
