On August 31st, the new Jardín Botánico de Cali was inaugurated, a priceless gift given to our city. Students belonging to the environmental collective CCB Corazón Verde, David Naranjo (President), Juanita Arango (Vice-President), Mariana Cardona (Press Director), Isabel Morales (Campaigns Director) and Karen Burbano, CCB’s Environmental Coordinator, attended as guests at the ceremony that celebrated the renovation of this important green heritage.
At this meeting they had the opportunity to interview María Clara Domínguez, Director of the Jardín Botánico and Mamá Colombo, who highlighted the work and commitment of the current generations with respect to the conservation of biodiversity, recycling and the care of fauna and flora.
She also congratulated and pointed out the important role played by educational institutions in the spreading of environmental awareness and added: “Let’s dream what we want to do. With lots of information, through billboards, workshops, visits to the Botanical Garden itself and through the development of projects among all the students, very special things can be done for the environment”.

El pasado jueves 31 de agosto, se inauguró el Jardín Botánico de Cali, un regalo invaluable que se le entregó a nuestra ciudad. Los estudiantes pertenecientes al colectivo ambiental CCB Corazón Verde, David Naranjo (Presidente), Juanita Arango (Vicepresidenta), Mariana Cardona (Directora de Prensa), Isabel Morales (Directora de Campañas) y Karen Burbano, Coordinadora ambiental del CCB, asistieron como invitados en dicha ceremonia que celebró la renovación de este importante patrimonio vegetal.
En este encuentro tuvieron la oportunidad de entrevistar a María Clara Domínguez, Directora del Jardín Botánico y mamá Colombo, quien resaltó la labor y compromiso de las generaciones actuales con respecto a la conservación de la biodiversidad, el reciclaje y el cuidado de la fauna y la flora.
Asimismo, felicitó y señaló el importante papel que cumplen las instituciones educativas en la divulgación de la protección del medio ambiente y añadió: “Soñemos qué queremos. Con muchísima información, a través de carteleras, talleres, de visitas al mismo Jardín Botánico y a través del desarrollo de proyectos entre todos los estudiantes, se pueden hacer cosas muy especiales”.
