Take a look at the world in which our children are growing up and into which they will launch themselves at university, in any country, anywhere in the world.
What you will see, and what we at CCB are acutely aware of, is that two very important factors must be simultaneously present in the person of each student:
- The academic qualifications that are often the price of entry into a fulfilling life.
- And the ingrained values, established at home and strengthened at school, that are the ultimate ticket to success, in whatever field.
At CCB we believe this balance to be so vital for a life well-lived that we put a stake in the ground by saying that qualifications without qualities are of little worth.
Here, at school on our fabulous campus, on the sports fields, in the classroom, across the huge array of extracurricular activities, there is a constant emphasis on qualities, on universal values, on the soft – skills.
Consider, in this context, the real merit of our arts and drama programmes, our music and musicals, our outdoor education camps in every corner of Colombia, our annual cultural trips to the United Kingdom and all over the world – each of these is enhancing life skills as well as broadening cultural horizons.
Therefore, we firmly believe that, in the search for a fulfilling career of benefit to society that soft – skills are hard currency – emotional intelligence and academic intelligence must co-exist in a purposeful harmony.
This attitude towards education, underpinned by our Catholic roots, finds expression in our school mantra ‘Corazon Colombo – We are one’.
Our community, with everything that is done in the classroom, in all our sports, in all our activities, fosters the belief that none of us is as important as all of us. We work hard and we work together.
Our approach to life here at CCB sets us up for the future: it is not surprising that CCB alumni go on to have wonderful careers, families and friends.
However, before all of that happens, it is often observed that the CCB student arrives better prepared for university. They are able to navigate life better thanks to the skills learnt at school and thanks to their language proficiency – here, educated English is a focus right from the start. In short, they arrive ahead.
We are proud of our school. We like to think that there are no gaps in the education we offer. It is the whole package. This whole package produces all-rounders, happy in their own skin. For us, the whole works.
Someone once said ‘ Ships are safe in harbour, but that’s not what ships are built for.’ This is an apt metaphor for the preparation our students receive here.
As they learn to leave their comfort zone, achievement beyond expectation is the result. They have learnt to work hard, to give always of their best, to respect others and to embrace the future. For them, nothing and nowhere is impossible.

Observa el mundo en el que nuestros hijos están creciendo y en el que se lanzarán a la universidad, en cualquier país, en cualquier parte del mundo.
Lo que verás, y lo que en el Colombo estamos completamente conscientes, es que deben existir dos cosas importantes en la vida de cada ser humano:
- Las cualificaciones académicas, que a veces son el precio de entrada hacia una vida plena
- y los valores arraigados – establecidos en casa y reforzados en el Colegio – que son la entrada definitiva hacia el éxito en cualquier campo.
En el CCB creemos que este equilibrio es tan vital para una vida bien vivida que dejamos casi escrito en piedra que los títulos sin las cualidades valen poco.
Aquí, en nuestro colegio, en nuestro grandioso campus, en las instalaciones deportivas,
en las aulas, y en la gran variedad de actividades extra-curriculares, nos enfocamos constantemente en la calidad humana, en los valores universales y en las habilidades blandas.
Consideren, en este contexto, el verdadero mérito de nuestros programas de artes y teatro, nuestra música y musicales, nuestros salidas pedagógicas al aire libre en cada rincón de Colombia, nuestros viajes culturales anuales al Reino Unido y por todo el mundo; cada uno de estos está fortaleciendo las habilidades para la vida y ampliando los horizontes culturales.
Creemos firmemente que en la búsqueda de una profesión que beneficie a la sociedad,
las habilidades blandas son divisa fuerte, y la inteligencia emocional y académica deben coexistir en armonía.
Esta actitud hacia la educación, respaldada por nuestras raíces católicas, encuentra su expresión en nuestro lema escolar ‘Corazón Colombo – Todos Somos Uno’.
En nuestra comunidad, con todo lo que se hace en el aula, en todos nuestros deportes, en todas nuestras actividades, se fomenta la creencia de que ninguno de nosotros es tan importante como todos nosotros unidos. Trabajamos duro y trabajamos juntos.
Nuestra perspectiva de la vida aquí en el CCB nos prepara para el futuro. No es de extrañar que nuestros exalumnos Colombo tengan carreras, familias y amistades maravillosas.
Sin embargo, antes de que todo esto suceda, con frecuencia se observa que los estudiantes CCB llegan mejor preparados a la universidad. Tienen las habilidades para navegar mejor por la vida gracias a las destrezas adquiridas en el colegio y a su dominio del idioma – porque aquí, un buen inglés es punto crucial desde el inicio. En resumidas cuentas, llegan con una gran ventaja.
Estamos orgullosos de nuestro colegio. Estamos felices de saber que no existen vacíos en la educación que ofrecemos. Tenemos el paquete completo. Y todo este paquete produce seres íntegros, felices consigo mismos. Para nosotros, el todo funciona.
Alguien dijo alguna vez: “Los barcos están seguros en el puerto, pero no fueron hechos para eso”. Esta es una buena metáfora que describe perfectamente la preparación que reciben nuestros estudiantes.
A medida que aprenden a salir de su zona de confort, el logro más allá de sus expectativas es el resultado. Han aprendido a trabajar duro, a dar siempre lo mejor de sí, a respetar a los demás y a abrazar el futuro. Para ellos, nada y ningún lugar es imposible.
En el CCB, yo tengo una voz. Tú tienes una voz. ¡Nosotros tenemos una voz!
