Our very own fifth grader, Maria José Burbano Morales, has been a force to be reckoned with on the tennis court this May, showcasing her skills and determination in major national tournaments.
Maria José claimed the Doubles Champion title in the 12 Years Category, Girls at the “Grado 3 de Santander” of the Colombian Tennis Federation National Circuit, held from May 9th to13th in Bucaramanga.
On May 18th and 19th, at the G4 Tournament of the Liga Vallecaucana de Tenis our student secured the Singles and Doubles Champion titles in both the 14 Years Girls Category and the 12 Years Girls Category.
“In tennis, I don’t have to do anything specific. I can express myself, be myself, and move freely,” shared Maria José, who has been playing the sport since she was 5 years old. She trains with dedication on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Club Farallones.
Maria José admires Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal for their fighting spirit and their ability to never give up. She told us about the preparations she goes through before stepping onto the court.
“When I arrive at the tournaments, I have a ritual to prepare myself. I wash my face and try to stay calm when I enter the court, because in the match, your head can play tricks on you,” mentioned our student.
To add to her winning streak, at the end of May, Maria José represented Valle del Cauca in a national tennis tournament in Manizales.
Congratulations to Maria José for her outstanding performance! We have no doubt that she will continue to demonstrate her talent and passion for the sport as she rises through the ranks!

Nuestra estudiante de Grado Quinto, Maria José Burbano Morales, ha tenido una destacada participación en tenis durante el mes de mayo, demostrando su habilidad y determinación en importantes torneos nacionales.
María José se coronó Campeona en Dobles Categoría 12 Años Femenino en el Grado 3 de Santander del Circuito Nacional de la Federación Colombiana , realizado del 9 al 13 de mayo en Bucaramanga.
Durante el 18 y 19 de mayo, en el Torneo G4 de la Liga Vallecaucana de Tenis, nuestra estudiante obtuvo los títulos de Campeona en Sencillos y Dobles en la Categoría 14 Años Femenino y también en la Categoría 12 Años Femenino.
“En el tenis no tengo que hacer nada específico, puedo expresarme, ser yo misma, y moverme libremente ”, nos contó Maria José, quien practica este deporte desde los 5 años. Entrena con dedicación los martes, miércoles, jueves y viernes de 2:00 p.m. a 7:00 p.m. en el Club Farallones.
Maria José admira a Roger Federer y Rafael Nadal, por su espíritu de lucha y su capacidad para no rendirse. Nos contó sobre las preparaciones que realiza antes de salir al campo de juego, “Cuando llego a los torneos tengo un ritual para prepararme, me lavo la cara y trato de estar tranquila cuando entro a la cancha, porque en el partido tu cabeza puede jugar en contra de ti”, mencionó nuestra estudiante.
Para finalizar su cosecha de triunfos, a finales de mayo, María José representó al Valle del Cauca en un torneo nacional de tenis en Manizales.
Felicitamos a María José por su buen desempeño, que sin duda alguna seguirá demostrando su talento y pasión por el deporte.
