Our students Felipe Holguín Uribe (10R), Antonio Riascos Borrero (9O), and Camilo Borrero Uribe (alumnus of the Class of 2019) from Team San Lorenzo, and Antonio José Gómez Pumarejo (9C) from La Bocha, took part in the final of the Copa Río Cauca de Polo, held at the Club Campestre de Cali last February.
After an intense match between the two teams, it was San Lorenzo who emerged victorious.
When we asked our students what they enjoy most about their sport, here’s what they had to say:
“What I enjoy most is the adrenaline rush from the speed. Being able to ride with friends, practicing constantly to master the horse, and having a good relationship with them is something I really love,” Felipe shared with us.
On the other hand, Antonio acknowledged that consistency is key for the rider-horse duo to work in harmony.
“The beauty of this sport is that you need a lot of practice, to know the horse very well, to understand its strengths and weaknesses because each horse is different. By getting to know them well and communicating with them, I feel a connection,” Antonio added.

Nuestros estudiantes Felipe Holguín Uribe (10R), Antonio Riascos Borrero (9O) y Camilo Borrero Uribe (exalumno de la Clase de 2019) del equipo San Lorenzo y Antonio José Gómez Pumarejo (9C) de La Bocha, participaron en la final de la Copa Río Cauca de Polo, realizada en el Club Campestre de Cali el pasado mes de febrero.
Tras disputarse el encuentro entre ambos equipos, fue San Lorenzo quien se quedó con la victoria.
Cuando les preguntamos a nuestros estudiantes qué es lo que más disfrutan de su deporte, esto respondieron:
“Lo que más me gusta es la adrenalina que se siente por la velocidad que se maneja. Poder ir a montar con amigos, practicar constantemente para aprender a dominar el caballo y tener una buena relación con ellos me gusta mucho”, nos contó Felipe.
Por su parte, Antonio reconoció que la constancia es clave para que la dupla jinete y caballo funcione en armonía.
“Lo lindo de este deporte es que necesitas mucha práctica, conocer muy bien al caballo, saber cuáles son sus fortalezas y debilidades porque cada caballo es diferente y al conocerlo bien y hablar con ellos siento una conexión”, añadió Antonio.
