Since October 4th, five students from tenth and eleventh grade have embarked on a trip to Kenya (Africa), where they will participate in the 55th International Round Square Conference titled “The New Africa.” Brookhouse School will be the host, providing accommodation and organizing all the activities for this event.
After meetings and a selection process, Emma Uribe (11B), Manuela Cuartas (11O), Mateo Fernández (11O), Samuel Senz (10O), and Sofía Knobelsdorf (10O) are very excited and grateful to live this experience.
“I have great expectations for this trip. I feel like I will learn a lot from different cultures, as well as about myself and different peers I haven’t interacted with before,” expressed Manuela.
This opportunity is fascinating for them, especially for students who are going on their first exchange experience or visiting Africa for the first time. They are looking forward to learning and sharing their knowledge.
“We will be engaging in various activities related to Round Square’s different ideals, such as leadership, internationalism, adventure etc. On a personal level, this is my first exchange of this kind, though I have also participated in other activities and competitions. I am very excited about the experience; I believe it will be very enriching and will become one of my most cherished memories, I am sure. I am going to enjoy it a lot,” shared Samuel.
The conference will take place at two of Brookhouse’s campuses, in Karen and Runda. There will be opening and closing days for all participants, as well as Adventure, Service, and Democracy days for smaller groups. During the Adventure Day, there will be a camping night in Nairobi National Park, where they will be able to see animals and learn about environmental conservation.
We are confident that CCB’s values will be well represented, and this trip will be a great opportunity for their academic and personal growth.

Del 4 al 14 de octubre, 5 estudiantes entre grado décimo y once realizarán un viaje a Kenia (África), en donde serán partícipes de la 55ª Conferencia Internacional de Round Square, titulada “La nueva África”. Brookhouse school será el anfitrión que hospedará y se encargará de llevar a cabo todas las actividades de este evento.
Después de reuniones y un proceso de selección, Emma Uribe (11B), Manuela Cuartas (11O), Mateo Fernández (11O), Samuel Senz (10O) y Sofía Knobelsdorf (10O) se encuentran muy emocionados y agradecidos por vivir esta experiencia.
“Tengo expectativas muy grandes de este viaje. Siento que voy a aprender mucho tanto de diferentes culturas, como de mi misma y de diferentes compañeros con los que no he convivido” manifestó Manuela Cuartas.
Esta oportunidad resulta fascinante para ellos, sobre todo para estudiantes que realizan su primer intercambio o visitan África por primera vez, a la espera de aprender y compartir sus conocimientos.
“Vamos a hacer bastantes actividades de los diferentes ideales de Round Square, como liderazgo, internacionalismo, etc. En cuestiones personales es mi primer intercambio como tal, pero también he participado en otras actividades y competencias. Estoy muy emocionado por la experiencia, creo que va a ser muy enriquecedora, se va a convertir en una de mis memorias más preciadas, estoy seguro. Lo voy a disfrutar mucho”, comentó Samuel Senz.
La conferencia tendrá lugar en dos campus de Brookhouse, en Karen y Runda. Habrá días de apertura y clausura para todos los participantes, y también días de Aventura, Servicio y Democracia para grupos más pequeños. Durante el Día de la Aventura, habrá una noche de camping en el Parque Nacional de Nairobi, donde podrán ver animales y aprender sobre la conservación del medio ambiente.
Estamos seguros de que los valores del CCB serán bien representados y que este viaje será una gran oportunidad para su crecimiento a nivel académico y personal.
