We have made a big splash at the “Multiverse Arts Festival” at Gimnasio Inglés school in Armenia! This VIII version of the ARTSFEST 2023 “Multiverse: So much bigger than you realize” took place on the 2nd and 3rd of November. Our students demonstrated their talent in the arts, winning awards in the categories of best play, best monologue, best singing soloist, best symphonic band and the Excellence award, the most important recognition of the festival.
The quality of the students’ performances was evidently very high. In the words of our performing arts teacher Alex Marulanda: “We didn’t know a lot of things, we didn’t really know how it was going to be. We knew that there was recognition for the people who presented themselves, but we didn’t know that there was going to be an award as such. To our surprise, we received several awards. We would like to bring more artists, such as dancers and visual artists, to the next event.
Jacobo López and Simón Uribe from 11th grade told CCB News how they enjoyed the experience. “It was very cool to participate and we won the prize for the school that was the most artistically complete. I won as a soloist and Simón won in the monologue. Overall it went well, it was a nice experience and we brought back a lot of nice memories”, Jacobo commented.
Jacobo performed a medley of three “ranchera” songs and has been practising music as a hobby for about three years. This was an opportunity to showcase talent in a professional contest,” he added.
On the other hand, Simón Uribe participated and won with a monologue he wrote about a man who is in a declining state of mind and shares his thoughts until he ends up committing suicide. “Through a creative thought process I thought about how to write something that would really focus on just that, because sometimes I feel like it’s a very strong subject and people never want to talk about it too much or don’t want to express it,” said Simón.
Congratulations to the students who participated in this event and proved that at CCB: we have a voice for art!

¡Arrasamos en el “Multiverse Arts Festival” del colegio Gimnasio Inglés en Armenia! Esta VIII versión del ARTSFEST 2023 “Multiverse: So much bigger than you realize” se llevó a cabo el 2 y 3 de noviembre, donde nuestros alumnos demostraron su talento en las artes, obteniendo el galardón en las categorías de mejor obra de teatro, mejor monólogo, mejor solista de canto, mejor banda sinfónica y el premio de Exaltación, el reconocimiento más importante del festival.
El nivel mostrado por los estudiantes fue evidentemente muy alto. En palabras del docente de Artes escénicas, Alex Marulanda: “Desconocíamos muchas cosas, no sabíamos realmente cómo iba a ser. Sabíamos que había un reconocimiento para la gente que se presentaba, pero no sabíamos que iba a haber una premiación como tal. Para sorpresa nuestra, nos llevamos varios reconocimientos. Quisiéramos en una oportunidad próxima llevar más artistas, como bailarines y artistas plásticos”.
Jacobo López y Simón Uribe de grado once contaron a CCB News cómo vivieron esta experiencia. “Fue muy chévere participar y ganamos el premio al colegio que más completo estaba en el sentido artístico. Yo gané como solista y Simón ganó en el monólogo. En general nos fue bien, fue una bonita experiencia y trajimos muchos lindos recuerdos”, comentó Jacobo.
Jacobo interpretó un popurrí ranchero de tres canciones y lleva alrededor de 3 años practicando la música como un hobbie. “Esta fue una oportunidad de demostrar el talento en un concurso profesional”, añadió.
Por otro lado, Simón Uribe participó y ganó con un monólogo de su autoría acerca de un hombre que está un estado mental que va en decadencia y comparte sus pensamientos hasta que termina en el suicidio. “Por proceso de pensamiento creativo pensé en cómo escribir algo que se enfocará realmente en solo eso, porque a veces siento que es un tema muy fuerte y la gente nunca quiere hablar mucho de eso o no quiere expresarlo”, mencionó Simón.
Felicitamos a los estudiantes que participaron en este evento y que demostraron que en el CCB: ¡tenemos una voz para el arte!
