On Saturday, May 14, the CCB student Cristóbal Torres from 2nd grade, attended the XXI Ping-Pong tournament located in the Municipality of Paipa, Boyacá. He had the opportunity to represent the Valle del Cauca nationally, where he showed his tennis skills and gave a magnificent performance in the tournament.
10 months ago Cristobal started playing Ping-Pong and has been proud to play the sport ever since. One of the most important pillars that have motivated Cristobal is the support he gets from his parents at every competition. “On one side I feel very proud and on the other, a high level of responsibility, understanding that I must be a mediator for Cristobal to continue to grow in this sport,” says Carlos Fernando Torres, Cristóbal’s dad.
Ping-Pong is a sport that requires great skills and precision; the handling of the racquet must be very important as this defines the player’s game. There are five common styles of gripping the racket handle: Asian or Oriental grip, European or Western grip, Anatomic, Hollow and Straight. “I really enjoy playing Ping-Pong because you need a lot of technique and I feel thrilled,” revealed Cristóbal.
On the other hand, Cristóbal told us how he felt at the Tournament “I felt very nervous and I also feel proud to represent el Valle del Cauca,” says Cristobal. In every tournament his parents are always trying to make the best celebration to motivate Cristóbal “We’re always together and also we try to make him understand that victories are small steps that lead you to achieve your dreams” says Carlos Fernando Torres.
Cristóbal’s next tournament will be held in the city of Pereira. We wish you the best of luck in reaching the qualification! The CCB is proud of you.

El día 14 de mayo el estudiante Cristóbal Torres de 2º, se presentó en el XXI campeonato de Tenis de Mesa en el Municipio de Paipa, Boyacá. Tuvo la oportunidad de representar al Valle del Cauca a nivel nacional, en donde mostró sus habilidades en el Tenis y realizó una magnifica presentación en el torneo.
Hace 10 meses Cristóbal comenzó a practicar Tenis de Mesa y desde ese entonces se ha sentido orgulloso de practicar este deporte. Uno de los pilares más importantes que ha motivado a Cristóbal, es el apoyo que le brindan sus padres ante cada torneo. “Por un lado orgullo total y por otro lado un alto grado de responsabilidad al entender que debo ser un facilitador para que Cristóbal siga creciendo en este deporte”, reveló Carlos Fernando Torres, papá de Cristobal.
El tenis de mesa es un deporte en donde se necesita una gran habilidad y precisión, además; la forma en la que se maneja la raqueta debe ser muy importante ya que esto es lo que define el juego del jugador. Hay cinco estilos comunes de cómo se agarra el mango de la raqueta y son: Mango asiático o oriental, mango europeo o occidental, anatómico, cóncavo y rectó. “Me gusta el tenis de mesa porque se necesita mucha técnica y me siento muy feliz,” dijo Cristóbal.
Por otro lado, Cristóbal nos cuenta cómo le fue en su torneo en Paipa “Muy nervioso y orgulloso de representar al Valle del cauca,” dijo Cristóbal. Después de terminar un partido su familia lo celebra de la mejor manera “Siempre en familia y sobre todo haciéndole entender que las victorias son pequeños pasos que lo llevan a conseguir sus sueños,” mencionó Carlos Fernando Torres.
El próximo torneo de Cristóbal se realizará en la ciudad de Pereira. ¡Le deseamos mucha suerte para alcanzar la clasificación! El CCB está muy orgulloso de ti.
