Seventy of our Grade 4 and 5 students faced a challenge that put their mathematical skills to the test during the Primary Maths Challenge, organised virtually by The Mathematical Association of the United Kingdom.
With great enthusiasm and admiration, we present the students who stood out thanks to their ingenuity and creativity:
First place: Juan David Pinto (Grade 5) and Cristobal Ayala (Grade 5) Second place: Gabriel Lozano (Grade 4) and Alejandro Mantilla (Grade 5) Third place: Samuel Kuratomi (Grade 5)
Our young mathematicians not only demonstrated their abilities in this subject, but also explored their knowledge, discovered new ways of thinking and solving complex situations and problems under the pressure of limited time. They had 45 minutes to answer 25 questions.
For Cristobal Ayala (Grade 5), who took one of the top spots in the Challenge, his achievement was unexpected.
“I like to participate in these competitions to test my level. I felt very happy, I couldn’t believe it! I said, “Oh wow, I won!”, he pointed out.
For his part, Gabriel Lozano (Grade 4) also had a pleasant surprise with his second-place finish.
“I feel happy to have won. I didn’t expect second place because there were many Grade 5 children, so I didn’t expect it,” said Gabriel.
Perseverance and passion allowed the students to overcome the challenges that were not at all simple and achieve this great goal.
According to Malgorzata Zarzycka, Primary Maths Coordinator, the students are already preparing for next year’s Challenge. Congratulations to all the participants for their effort and dedication!

Setenta de nuestros estudiantes de grado 4 y 5 se enfrentaron a un reto que puso a prueba sus habilidades matemáticas durante el Desafío de Matemáticas Primarias, organizado virtualmente por la Asociación Matemática del Reino Unido.
Con gran entusiasmo y admiración, presentamos a los estudiantes que se destacaron gracias a su ingenio y creatividad:
Primer lugar: Juan David Pinto De Menezes (5º) y Cristobal Ayala Munoz, (5º)
Segundo lugar: Gabriel Lozano Bautista (4º) y Alejandro Mantilla Rivera (5º)
Tercer lugar: Samuel Kuratomi Muñoz (5º)
Nuestros jóvenes matemáticos no solo demostraron sus habilidades en esta materia, sino que también exploraron sus conocimientos, descubrieron nuevas formas de pensar y resolver situaciones y problemas complejos bajo la presión del tiempo limitado. Contaban con 45 minutos para resolver 25 preguntas.
Para Cristobal Ayala (5°), quien se llevó uno de los primeros lugares del Desafío, su logro fue inesperado.
“Me gusta participar en esas competencias para probar mi nivel. Me sentí muy feliz, ¡no lo podía creer! Yo dije, “¡Ay, wow, gané!”, puntualizó.
Por su lado, Gabriel Lozano (4°) también se llevó una agradable sorpresa con su segundo puesto.
“Me siento feliz de haber ganado. Yo no me esperaba el segundo lugar porque había muchos niños de quinto, entonces no lo esperaba”, dijo Gabriel.
La perseverancia y la pasión permitieron a los estudiantes superar los desafíos que no eran para nada sencillos y alcanzar esta gran meta.
De acuerdo con Malgorzata Zarzycka, Coordinadora de Matemáticas de Primaria los estudiantes ya están preparándose para el Desafío del próximo año.
