Our swimming teacher, Gloria Patricia Tapié Guerrero, won four gold medals with Club Marlin, in the XIV version of the Colombia 2024 Finswimming Cup, which took place between the 16th and 18th of August in the Alberto Galindo swimming pools.
Gloria competed in the 200m Breaststroke, 100m Breaststroke, 50m Breaststroke and 50 Surface, in the Masters category, taking first place in all races. She is proud of these sporting achievements and reminds us that it is never too late to take up a sport.
‘Once you have the will, the discipline, the motivation and the desire to do it, you can do it. There is no age limit,’ said Gloria.
Her love for the sport started when she was in school. When she was in sixth grade, a teacher took her to the Escuela Nacional del Deporte and from that moment on she started training at a competitive level in swimming races.
For the last 8 years she has been a swimming teacher in the extracurricular activities at CCB. And with the same passion and discipline that makes her stand out in the water, she teaches our students the sport she fell in love with as a child. She also works at the Club Tiburones del Valle and is a coach at the training school of the Liga Vallecaucana de Actividades Subacuáticas.

Nuestra profesora de natación, Gloria Patricia Tapié Guerrero, ganó cuatro medallas de oro con el Club Marlin, en la XIV Versión de la Copa Colombia 2024 de Natación con Aletas, que se llevó a cabo entre el 16 y 18 de agosto en las piscinas Alberto Galindo.
Gloria compitió en las pruebas de 200m Bialetas, 100m Bialetas, 50m Bialeta y 50 Superficie, en la categoría Máster, llevándose en todas las pruebas el primer puesto. Ella se siente orgullosa de estos logros deportivos y nos recuerda que nunca es tarde para hacer un deporte.
“Después de que uno tenga la disposición, la disciplina, la motivación y querer hacerlo, se puede lograr. No hay edad límite”, señaló Gloria.
Su amor por este deporte nació desde que estaba en el colegio. Cuando estaba en sexto grado un profesor la llevó a la Escuela Nacional del Deporte y desde ese momento comenzó sus entrenamientos a nivel competitivo en natación de carreras.
Desde hace 8 años es profesora de natación en las actividades extracurriculares del CCB. Y con esa misma pasión y disciplina que la destaca en el agua, le enseña a nuestros estudiantes el deporte que la enamoró de pequeña. Además, trabaja en el Club Tiburones del Valle y es entrenadora de la escuela de formación de la Liga Vallecaucana de Actividades Subacuáticas.
